UPDATE FROM PCSO
Every 15 Minutes program is funded by a grant through the California Office of Traffic Safety. We work in partnership with CHP to simulate a fatal collision involving high school students. This 2-day simulation is designed to realistically portray a fatal collision involving high school students as the victim and the impaired suspect. It is designed to detract students from impaired driving by imprinting a memory on the student body. On November 15th and 16th, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway patrol will be conducting this impactful event for Granite Bay Highschool juniors and seniors. We are excited for the opportunity to have an impact on kids when it comes to their decision to drink and drive.
Secret Santa A private donor donated a generous amount of gift cards for deputies to pass out to families and individuals in need within our community. Patrol will spend the next couple of months looking for families in need, or families who are dealing with a difficult situation to hand these gift cards out to. This program allows for the Sheriff’s Office to connect with our community in an impactful way and build critical relationships with our community. This has been occurring annually since 2019, and there has been numerous families impacted by the generosity of the anonymous donor and our deputy’s willingness to go out and interact with the community in this way.
South Placer Jail Buildings 863 & 844: We recently celebrated the groundbreaking of buildings 863 the mental health facility and 844 the vocational facility at the South Placer Jail. This was an exciting time for Placer County and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Today the first wall of these buildings went up (see attached picture), which represents the tremendous progress being made on these buildings. We are excited for the progress being made, and ultimately what these two facilities will provide to the Placer County community. Both buildings are on track to be completed in the middle of 2025. |

UPDATE FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY' OFFICE
Placer County’s (Em)Power + Resilience Project launches “This is a sign” campaign to close out Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Placer County’s (Em)Power + Resilience Project is joining the City of Roseville and City of Rocklin to launch the “This is a sign” campaign with the hopes of expanding awareness of the dangers of domestic violence as well as resources available to survivors in Placer County.
The campaign is partnering with the two cities to utilize their public billboards to present an eye-opening play on the word “sign”. While the billboards are a large sign, it is also intended to be seen as a proverbial sign for someone in an abusive relationship to take a pause and reconsider. The colors of the campaign are black and white by design to emphasize the black and white nature of domestic abuse. Learn more.
