DISTRICT 5 NEWSLETTER | MAY 4

HAPPY MAY!

cindy gustafson

As I complete my fourth year as your Placer County District 5 Supervisor, I can’t help but reflect on how quickly the time has passed, how many challenges we have faced, and how many successes we have accomplished – together! Serving as a public official through the global pandemic and five declared emergencies in the last two years, has taken an incredible amount of energy and hard work, but through it all it has allowed me to get to know so many of you as we worked together to overcome the challenges and tragedies. Our residents, non-profits, businesses, cities, special districts, and County government worked side-by-side through Covid, wildland fires and again during this year’s winter storms. I am so proud to represent such incredibly generous and dedicated people! You make my job easy by stepping-up and helping each other and moving our communities forward.

Today we celebrate the Big Day of Giving. Many of you have given so much over these last years but today is one more opportunity to demonstrate your generous spirit and support the incredible nonprofits who have repeatedly risen to serve our communities’ needs. Please consider donating whatever you are able – if everyone gives a little, it adds up to a lot!

preparing for fire season

Last week I was pleased to get a first-hand opportunity to see the men and women training for the front-line fire crews. Their efforts and dedication were incredible. As they prepare for fire season – so should we! Keep your property “Lean, Clean, and Green." It will not only help protect your home but your entire community. Defensible Space - Ready for Wildfire

With gratitude and appreciation for all that you do,
Cindy Gustafson

PLACER SUPERVISORS APPROVE FUNDING FOR MORE BROADBAND SERVICES IN RURAL AREAS

broadband

The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved funding to bring more broadband services to rural areas. The move continues Placer’s commitment to helping ensure that all residents in Placer County have access to essential internet services. The allocated funds aim to address the pressing need for broadband services in areas that are currently unserved due to inadequate or outdated infrastructure. This will enable more people to take advantage of the educational and economic opportunities the internet provides. The board selected the county IT Department’s recommended seven broadband expansion projects, including Sheridan, Newcastle, Loomis, South Auburn, North Auburn, Meadow Vista and the Folsom Lake Estates neighborhood in Granite Bay.
