UPDATE FROM PCSO
National Volunteer Week kicks off on the 16th and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office thanks every volunteer at the sheriff’s office for their diligent efforts in helping us protect and serve Placer County! Our volunteers help in several different capacities; they are assigned to Community Services, Search and Rescue, the Chaplaincy, and some serve as reserve deputies and explorers. Each one of them has made a positive impact within our organization. In 1974, President Nixon established National Volunteer Week to celebrate and recognize the efforts of volunteers. Since then, many presidents have also used this week to encourage Americans to give back to their communities by volunteering their time to local outreach organizations.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office supports victims’ rights every day, but on the week of April 23rd, PCSO is recognizing National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. PCSO works alongside the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, which helps victims through victim advocates who are there from the moment a crime occurs, to however long they are needed. For more information on services offered to victims in Placer County, please call 916-543-8000 or visit: https://www.placer.ca.gov/3356/Victim-Witness-Assistance
On April 25th, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office will celebrate 172 years of being able to proudly serve and protect Placer County. The sheriff’s office was established on April 25, 1851, and in those 172 years, we have had 28 sheriffs. We are proud of the dedication, respect, and dignity our deputies continue to display to the community, and we are grateful for the trust it has instilled in our agency to keep Placer County a safe place to live, work, and visit. Fun fact: the area which now comprises Placer County used to be part of Sutter and Yuba counties.
