Greetings.

For the past 18 years I have been the Board of Supervisors appointee to the Placer County Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board (MHADAB).

The MHADAB is comprised of a group of Board appointed community members representing consumers who are receiving services for substance abuse and mental health, family members who have a family member receiving those services and public interest members who promote citizen and consumer participation in provision and evaluation of the mental health systems of care. As part of providing oversight, Board members assist in establishing measurable service delivery outcomes; review and make recommendations to annual performance contracts; and advise the Board of Supervisors on issues relevant to the mental health and substance abuse services provided by Placer County.

Currently there are three vacancies on the 12-member board. If you or anyone you know who may be interested in joining the MHADAB as a family member, a consumer or a public interest member please contact me at jholmes@placer.ca.gov or Amy Ellis,  Adult System of Care Director at AREllis@placer.ca.gov.

On August 15, the Placer County Board of Supervisors and the Placer County Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board celebrated the addition of the Lotus Behavioral Health Crisis Center. The Lotus Center is a new, voluntary urgent care center for residents experiencing a mental health crisis.

This much needed innovative facility is located on Placer County’s Adult System of Care campus at 101 Cirby Hills Drive in Roseville. It will provide a short-term place to stay, designed to provide an appropriate level of care for those experiencing a mental health crisis. The Lotus Crisis Center is available to any county resident regardless of insurance. The center is funded in part through community health investments from the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission, Sutter Health, Kaiser Permanente, Anthem Blue Cross and California Health and Wellness.

Be Safe!

Warm Regards,

Supervisor Jim Holmes
