Placer County voters have a history of strong voter turnout, ranking among the best in California.  Now, more than ever, it is critically important for voters to participate in this primary election There are several key races on this ballot. The ballot includes several state and federal seat primaries as well as Placer County races including assessor, clerk-recorder-registrar of voters, district attorney, sheriff/coroner-marshal, and for Eastern Placer voters, it also includes Measure A.

CONGRESSMAN LAMALFA ANNOUNCES PLACER COUNTY SHERIFF BODY-WORN CAMERA GRANT

On Monday, May 23, Congressman Doug LaMalfa announced that he secured a $580,000 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant through the Department of Justice for Placer County. The funds will be awarded for a Body-Worn Camera Program. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office will assign Body-Worn Cameras to deputies in field operations and to correctional staff for use in both correctional facilities. Congressman LaMalfa was joined by Placer County Sheriff Devon Bell, Placer County Supervisor Cindy Gustafson, and Placer County Undersheriff Wayne Woo. PLACER SUPERVISORS APPROVE FIRST-EVER PARKS AND TRAILS MASTER PLAN

Last week, the Placer County Board of Supervisors  approved the first-ever countywide Placer County Parks and Trails Master Plan, which could double the amount of recreation acreage by 2040 and triple the amount of trail miles. The plan provides a 20-year-and-beyond vision for the development and operation of parks, recreation, open space and trail networks in the county. It also includes future improvements and maintenance for existing parks and trails. LEARN MORE


PLACER SUPERVISORS AUTHORIZE $56 MILLION FOR NEW SHERIFF'S OFFICE FACILITIES

The Placer County Board of Supervisors adopted a series of resolutions Tuesday to authorize the award of two design-build contracts totaling $56 million for the construction of the Mental Health Facility and the Vocational Training Facility at the Bill Santucci Justice Center in Roseville. Based on a best-value criterion, the contracts were both awarded to Clark & Sullivan Construction and Broward Builder, who have entered a joint venture. When complete, the two Placer County Sheriff's Office facilities will add a total of 165 beds to the South Placer Jail. LEARN MORE


PLACER SUPERVISORS SUPPORT FUNDING FOR MARRIOTT MEADOWS PARK IN NORTH AUBURN

North Auburn will welcome a new park thanks to a large grant from the state of California and actions by the Placer County Board of Supervisors last week. The planned Marriott Meadows Park will be located west of Regional Park on Richardson Drive in North Auburn. Features will include walking trails through conserved woodlands, a dog park, open turf area, a central plaza, splash pads, bocce ball courts, picnic tables and restrooms. LEARN MORE


OPENING ON PLACER COUNTY ASSESSMENT APPEALS BOARD REPRESENTING DISTRICT 5

Placer County is accepting applications to fill a seat on the county Assessment Appeals Board to represent District 5. Assessment Appeals Board members must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in the state of California as a certified public accountant, licensed real estate broker, an attorney, or certified and accredited property appraiser.

PLACER ACCEPTING ‘ROUND-2’ MICROBIZ GRANT APPLICATIONS THROUGH JUNE 10

Placer County is launching the second round of grant funding for microbusiness owners who may have missed their opportunity for a $2,500 grant in the first round. New applications for the Placer Micro Biz Program will be accepted starting April 25 through June 10. LEARN MORE
