Fentanyl deaths rising in Placer County

The share of overdose deaths involving fentanyl in our county has been increasing, and unfortunately, some of these deaths have involved “fentapills,” or fake prescription pills laced with fentanyl unknown to the user.

HHS and our partners in law enforcement, the DA’s office, education, nonprofits and others will be launching an awareness campaign and would like to invite you to attend our kickoff event if you are able to attend. The goal of the “1 Pill Can Kill Placer” campaign is to inform and educate teens, young adults and parents on the dangers of obtaining prescription pills from anywhere other than a doctor or pharmacy.

Please RSVP here for the event at Whitney High School in Rocklin on April 22 at 10 a.m.: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/317892293407.

Speakers will include members of the above agencies along with Chris and Laura Didier, whose son Zach tragically passed away due to fentanyl poisoning after purchasing a pill he thought was a Percocet off of Snapchat.

Thank You,

Robert
