The tradition of the Board of Supervisors is to rotate the role of chair, and I am truly honored to take my turn this year. It does come with added responsibilities and time commitments to County-wide duties, but I am certain that with the outstanding dedication of my District Director (Sophie Fox – West Slope) and Deputy District Director (Katelynn Hopkins – East Slope), we will be able to continue our service to you.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING IN NORTH LAKE TAHOE

TUESDAY, JANUARY 25 AT 9AM

The Board of Supervisors meeting includes several items that are specific to Eastern Placer County: 

  • Commendation of Larry Sevison | Approve a Commendation recognizing Larry Sevison for 50 years of service on the Placer County Planning Commission. 
  • East Placer Tahoe Housing Update | Receive an update on the County’s efforts to create achievable housing opportunities in East Placer and the Tahoe Basin. 
  • Capital Projects Advisory (CAP) Committee FY2021-22 Capital Project Recommendations | Receive staff presentation outlining the CAP Committee recommendation to allocate TOT funds to up to 12 capital projects in eastern Placer County, consistent with the Tourism Master Plan. 
  • Short-Term Rental Ordinance Changes | Introduce and waive oral reading of an Ordinance to repeal and replace Chapter 9, Article 9.42 of the Placer County Code to regulate short term vacation rentals. The proposed ordinance includes higher penalties, additional requirements, and a cap on the number of short-term rentals allowed.

Help our environment and our congestion! I encourage residents and visitors to take advantage the FREE winter transit options. The winter Park + Ride lots in Truckee and Tahoe City offer service to Olympic Valley and Northstar California Resort. In addition, TART Connect offers free on-demand shuttle service in North Lake Tahoe with curb-to-curb service and connections, via the app or phone, and you will be picked up in as little as 15 minutes. Please note: Starting January 15, TART will be running a modified and reduced service schedule. LEARN MORE

TAHOE CITY CDRA FRONT COUNTERS CLOSE TO PUBLIC

Amid the ongoing surge of COVID-19 cases, in-person counter services will be temporarily suspended at our Community Development Resource Agency offices in Tahoe City starting Tuesday, January 18. Virtual appointments, and many other services, remain available through our eServices online portal. Please note: Closure does not impact the STR program enforcement. LEARN MORE

The Placer County District Attorney’s Office is now accepting applications for its spring 2022 citizens academy. During the nine-week program participants will learn about the District Attorney’s Office, its role within the criminal justice system and the services it provides to the community. LEARN MORE

PLACER SEEKS COMMUNITY INPUT ON LIBRARY SERVICES

Placer County is interested in hearing from residents regarding library services. The county will host a virtual town hall meeting to seek input on January 24 at 6pm. The scheduled town hall will consist of a two-hour interactive session. Participants will explore options for library service and discuss what services are most important to them. We’re honored to be a part of the Placer County Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Team helping children who are victims or are at risk of being exploited in our community. The CSEC Team is composed of members from KidsFirst, law enforcement agencies, mental health agencies, probation, District Attorney’s Office and Children’s System of Care. LEARN MORE
