DISTRICT 5 NEWSLETTER | JANUARY 13

WELCOMING 2022 AND A NEW ROLE

board chair

The tradition of the Board of Supervisors is to rotate the role of chair, and I am truly honored to take my turn this year. It does come with added responsibilities and time commitments to County-wide duties, but I am confident that with the help of my District Director (Sophie Fox – West Slope) and Deputy District Director (Katelynn Hopkins – East Slope), we will be able to continue our service to you.

2022 came in with a bang resulting from the record-smashing holiday winter storm. It caused tremendous damage and disruption to many of our residents. I can’t begin to thank those who stepped in to assist. In addition to Cal Fire- Placer County Fire, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Placer County Roads crews, Placer County Office of Emergency Services staff, City of Colfax staff and council members, Placer County Water Agency, all our local fire districts, PG&E, and Placer Community Foundation, many volunteers stepped in to assist their neighbors and their communities. They checked in on neighbors, cleared driveways, prepared and distributed food, called in outside resources, opened-up their homes and donated time and resources to others. I have been told many stories of the heroes that stepped in to help. Please, send us emails to let our office know of these stories so we can recognize the individuals who provided such incredible volunteer service.

With gratitude,
Cindy Gustafson, District 5 Supervisor
