COVID-19
In an effort to support local hospitals impacted by the sharp rise in COVID-related cases, Public Health is extending its late summer Health Warning and urging all residents to use high-quality medical masks while in all indoor settings around others to protect against the highly infectious Omicron and Delta variants. The rapid increase in cases and hospitalizations in recent days strongly suggests Omicron is spreading widely in Placer as throughout the region. Learn more.

New state regulations require residents and businesses to recycle their organic waste as of Jan. 1. This means things like food scraps, yard waste, paper, and cardboard must be kept out of the landfill, where they produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas. The good news is, if you receive garbage service in Placer County, our materials recovery facilities are already recycling many of these materials for you. Public Safety Spotlight
Deputies Lewis and Byers save the day
After the recent snowstorms, Linda and Hank found themselves trapped in their house, buried under six feet of snow! The couple had no access to water as their well was frozen, and the snow around the home had become like a block of ice, making it impossible for them to shovel it. With no friends or family nearby to help, they turned to the Sheriff’s Office for assistance. Luckily, Deputies Lewis and Byers were more than willing to help shovel a path for Linda and Hank to leave their house and access their vehicle (which was also buried in snow)!
Thanks to our hardworking deputies, many seniors and families throughout Placer County have been dug out of their homes!
