The Placer County Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board has several vacancies, including positions for clients of county programs and for outside professionals.

I have represented the Board of Supervisors on this advisory board for the last 15 years. We are especially interested in members representing clients of county mental health, alcohol, and drug programs. They can be the client themselves, parents, spouses, siblings, adult children, or significant others.  The advisory board also has openings for professionals with expertise in mental health and substance abuse treatment.

I encourage people in both groups to submit applications if they are interested in serving on the advisory body. It plays an important role in evaluating the community’s mental health, alcohol, and drug programs and in serving as an advisory body for both the county Board of Supervisors and the Health and Human Services Department.

Serving on the advisory board gives the county’s clients and outside professionals an opportunity to be provide input on the community’s needs, the county’s services and facilities, and specific problems or issues that arise.

Consumers and family members of those who have used Mental Health Services, and people who identify with an unserved or underserved community are particularly encouraged to apply.  However, all community members with a passion to better understand, advocate for, and help improve Behavioral Health services for vulnerable populations are encouraged to come to meetings and make a difference!

Please consider applying to serve on the Placer County Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board, especially if your family or workplace has had experiences in these issues. With your help we can better serve our community.

For more information on serving on this Board, please call Kyleene Headrick at (530) 889-7235, email mhadab@placer.ca.gov, or go to the county website at https://www.placer.ca.gov/mhadab.
