Placer County District 2 Updates
March 9, 2021
Honoring our Purple Heart veterans
Placer County has dedicated a reserved parking spot for Purple Heart medal recipients at two county facilities following action by our Board of Supervisors to proclaim Placer as a Purple Heart County in November 2020. We marked the occasion last week by unveiling the new sign outside Placer’s Veterans Services Office in Rocklin in a dedication event. Watch video

Youth soccer returns in Lincoln
Youth soccer in Lincoln returned to play this weekend after a year without competition.
With the season now underway, Lincoln Youth Soccer Club also looks to the not-too-distant future, when it will co-host a youth soccer camp with the Sacramento Republic FC during Spring Break between March 29-April 2 at Foskett Regional Park.
Placer County did not move into the red tier in today's update.
Supervisor Weygandt's statement regarding this decision:
"Infections in Placer, California and the U.S. have been falling since the first of the year. In Placer, the rollout of vaccinations has gone extremely well. The specific reason for lockdowns was to ensure we didn’t overwhelm medical capacity. It’s important to continue tracking trends, but with the horrible damage caused by restrictions, it’s also very important to normalize as quickly as possible. It’s horribly disappointing that the State has decided to keep Placer in the purple tier when it is clear we are nowhere near meeting capacity in our hospitals."
