Placer County now in purple tier

Purple tier

With COVID-19 cases surging in California, the governor announced this week that Placer County along with most other California counties has moved backward in the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy reopening framework. Placer County is now in the purple tier, with increased restrictions now in effect. Learn more

We have invested over $9 million this year to help our small businesses and nonprofits impacted by
COVID-19. Through Placer Shares Impact Grants, we have an additional $5 million available to fund business anchors and our critical nonprofit safety net programs that provide mental health services, food insecurity aid and housing assistance. Watch video


County acquires Tahoe motel as part of ‘Project Homekey’

Last week, Placer County completed purchase of the 7 Pines Motel in Kings Beach, a 14-unit motel that will be converted into permanent supportive housing to support those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the North Tahoe region. Learn more


Burn ban lifted for Placer County

CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit has lifted their burn ban. Friendly reminder: While the burn ban is lifted, safety restrictions are still in place. If you burn in your backyard, be sure to cover the burn piles until burn day so the wood stays dry. This will ensure the wood is easier to light, will burn hotter and produce less smoldering smoke! Also, be aware of your local burn permit requirements. Learn more


Forest Service closes Tahoe recreation areas for winter

The Forest Service has begun closing recreational facilities for the winter season. Seasonal closures apply to many National Forest recreation sites in the Lake Tahoe Basin including beaches, campgrounds, picnic areas and forest roads. Learn more
