 The Placer Business Resource Center, in partnership with the Sierra Small Business Development Center and the Small Business Administration, have teamed up to provide businesses in Placer County a one-stop resource for all your business questions and needs.
SIERRA SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Placer County’s key partner to help businesses navigate financial options through this crisis is the Sierra Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The SBDC is helping small businesses understand the programs that are part of the CARES Act and the Paycheck Protection Program. SBDC advisors deliver technical assistance and help in determining which programs are applicable. Together, we are focused on helping businesses survive this economic disaster. Businesses in Placer County are encouraged to contact SBDC at sierrasbdc.com or the Placer Business Resource Center at placer.ca.gov/businessresources for assistance in navigating the various financial assistance programs.

 THE CARES ACT GUIDE
The guide provides information about the major programs and initiatives that are or will soon be available from the SBA via our partner, the Sierra Small Business Development Center: sierrasbdc.com/covid-19.
 As part of the CARES Act, the PPP authorizes up to $349 billion in forgivable loans to small businesses to pay their employees during the COVID-19 crisis. To learn more or find a lender, visit sba.gov/paycheckprotection.
On March 17, 2020; Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-31-20, which addressed the California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act (Lab. Code §§ 1400, et seq.) and its 60-day notice requirement for an employer that orders a mass layoff, relocation, or termination at a covered establishment. Pursuant to the direction in that Order, the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, and the Employment Development Department (EDD) provides the following guidance regarding the Order’s conditional suspension of the California WARN Act. The Golden Sierra Job Training Agency (GSJTA), of which Placer County is a part, has a Rapid Response Program to assist California Businesses affected by COVID-19. Rapid Response is a proactive, business-focused program designed to assist employers and workers facing potential layoffs. GSJTA Rapid Response teams will work with a company to minimize negative impacts on its workforce. Since the start of the pandemic, over 38 companies affecting 2,430 employees have filed WARN notices in Placer County, creating an unprecedented demand for Rapid Response services.  With a goal of evoking community spirit and business resiliency, Placer County and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association have joined forces to capture a Stronger Together message for the North Lake Tahoe region. With video messages of strength and unity from a variety of business leaders and community members, the campaign reiterates that working together in a time of crisis and uncertainty is the best long-term solution for the region’s recovery. As the State of California and Placer County work to slow the spread of COVID-19, the county’s health officer is providing clarification about the operation of short-term rentals in North Lake Tahoe and elsewhere in the county. Based on the Governor’s Executive Order, Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson urges short-term rentals to cease all commercial operations. Short-term rental units may only operate: to provide COVID-19 mitigation and containment measures to provide housing for essential critical infrastructure workers for use by the property owner and his/her immediate family members Please call 530.448.8003 to report any concerns about short-term rentals in relation to the Governor’s order.
