If you’re a business owner, or maybe are on the sidelines dreaming of kick-starting your own business, you’ll be excited to know that the new Placer Business Resource Center opened earlier this month in Rocklin, providing a one-stop-shop for business development services at no or low cost.

I know from personal experience the challenges and rewards of being a business owner. While the rewards are great, there are some challenges that I would probably like to forget and I could have benefited from some professional business assistance.

The Placer Business Resource Center is designed to help everyone from entrepreneurs looking to launch a startup to established businesses wanting to grow. Services include workshops and classes, one-on-one advising, hiring assistance and permit and regulatory assistance.

These opportunities are available to everyone in Placer County - that includes our incorporated cities, too.

Workshops and classes are held on a regular basis, taught by highly-experienced business experts and local professionals. They cover a wide array of topics including business basics, business plan development, financing for small businesses, loan readiness, how to develop an idea into a business, accounting and more.

We’ve also partnered with the Service Corps of Retired Executives and Sacramento Capital Region Small Business Development Center, to offer free, confidential one-on-one advising by appointment on strategic planning, cash flow management, site selection, and building marketing and social media campaigns.

Do you need to hire more staff? The Placer Business Resource Center can help with that, too, by providing employers access to conference room and interview space to recruit and interview new staff, hiring incentive programs and organized job fairs.

In fact, the Placer Business Resource Center has already hosted hiring events for two major companies opening in Placer: TJ Maxx and McKesson, a pharmaceutical distributor. McKesson hired over 100 people in one day!

Placer Business Resource Center staff are also available to help business owners navigate  through regulatory and permitting processes for business licenses, business regulation requirements, zoning and land use and building permits.

The Placer Business Resource Center is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located at 1000 Sunset Boulevard, Suite 105, in Rocklin.

Visit the Placer Business Resource Center website for more information at www.placercountyonline.com/brc

Placer County has always been a great place to start and build a business, and we are proud to continue our support for economic development through our partnerships and the Business Resource Center. I can’t wait to see what new enterprises we can help get off the ground.
