Construction season is about to begin

With our May 30th Board of Supervisors approval of Q&D’s construction contract, the fourth phase of the Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project is about to begin.

As a recap, the additional project elements include:

  • The construction of a sixth public parking lot behind Rite-Aid that will add 29 spaces to the public parking inventory in Kings Beach;
  • Adding landscape plantings to the beds constructed last year;
  • Modifying drainage at the base of Beaver Street;
  • Rearranging decorative light poles to provide more appealing banner locations;
  • Installing decorative hand railings to the Griff Creek Bridge; and
  • Replacing damaged traffic control posts.

In regards to the timing of the work, the next couple of weeks will consist of finalizing agreements, ordering materials and setting up the staging yard at Fox Street and Highway 28.  The bulk of the tasks will start after the July 4th holiday.  Most of the work can be completed without lane closures, but will require shoulder closures in the area of work.  We anticipate that this contract will be completed this season.
