Customer savings on Ava service, Community Sponsorship applications, a note on bill increases, and the Oakland Roots 2024 opening game!

Electricity rates – and customers’ bills – are going up, but customers in Alameda County and in the City of Tracy can still save 5% compared to what they otherwise would have paid PG&E.
On January 1, 2024 PG&E implemented a significant rate increase for all customers, including customers of Ava Community Energy.
It’s important to note that these increased costs are mainly for PG&E transmission and delivery service, not for Ava’s portion of your electricity bill (generation of energy). Customers of Ava Community Energy are still customers of PG&E for energy delivery, and most of this rate increase is on the energy delivery portion of the bill. Ava’s generation rates increased at the same percentage as PG&E's generation rates, so you're still saving 5% on Bright Choice service.
In the graph above you can see Ava's generation rate increase (~13%) and PG&E's delivery and transmission rate increase (~35%) for a customer on an E-TOU-C rate schedule and Bright Choice generation service from Ava. Ava's rate increase amounts to almost 2.5 cents per kWh, while PG&E's rate increase on delivery and transmission amounts to over 7 cents per kWh.
