On January 1, 2024 PG&E implemented a significant rate increase for all customers, including customers of Ava Community Energy.
The largest increases affect the transmission and delivery portion of your electricity bill. Minor increases to electricity generation rates also went into effect on January 1, 2024, and Ava customers on Bright Choice will continue to see a 5% discount from PG&E generation rates. Customers on Renewable 100 service will continue to pay 1/4 of a cent more per kWh (approximately $1 more, per month) than PG&E generation rates.
The PG&E bill for an average residential customer will go up $32.50 per month. All PG&E customers, including those receiving electric generation from Ava, will be affected by these rate increases. The new rates will begin showing up on customers' bills in February 2024.
To save on your electricity bill, check if you're eligible for CARE or FERA rates, try to use major appliances outside the peak hours of 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and unplug appliances when they're not in use!
