At the June Board of Directors meeting each year, EBCE Board Directors vote on a new budget for the upcoming fiscal year. This year's budget has some exciting benefits for customers throughout the East Bay, including (but not limited to) the following:
- For customers on Bright Choice, the discount will increase from 3% to 5% (compared to PG&E rates)
- For customers on Renewable 100, a two-thirds lower premium, from ¾ ¢ to ¼ ¢ per kilowatt-hour
- A $50 bill credit to all customers on income-qualifying CARE & FERA discounts in Q1/Q2 of 2023. That comes out to $6.6 million in immediate savings for approximately 121,670 homes.
- Increase the carbon-free content of EBCE's power mix above the previous Board-approved schedule for 2023 and 2024 Bright Choice targets.
- 2023 Bright Choice carbon-free content: 76%
- 2024 Bright Choice carbon-free content: 81%

Summer Time-of-Use Rates (TOU) began on June 1 and run through September. Each year in the summertime, electricity rates change to account for increased generation costs during the summer. Most residents and businesses in our service area are on TOU rates, which means that during peak pricing between 4pm-9pm, electricity rates are the highest they'll be all year.
We recommend trying to run your dishwasher, vacuum, and do laundry and other electricity-intensive tasks during off-peak hours (e.g. mornings or after 9pm) to help lower your bills.
Visit ebce.org/rates to learn more.

The Oakland Soul’s home stadium is at Merritt College in Oakland. The Pleasanton RAGE will be playing home games at the Stanford Medicine Sports Complex in Pleasanton.

Community Sponsorship Applications Open for August Awards!
Are you involved with a local organization doing impactful work in our community? Three times a year EBCE awards grants of up to $2,500 to local organizations doing impactful work in our community. Applications for this round are due July 31.
The Ecology Center is a prior grant recipient working to build a sustainable, healthy, and just future for the East Bay, California and beyond! Founded in 1969, the Ecology Center has years of experience inspiring residents, educating, demonstrating, and advocating for sustainable city-living. Their sponsorship from EBCE was used to purchase a portable power station to power an induction cooktop at the weekly Ecology Center Farmers' markets to provide cooking demos to increase awareness of the benefits of cooking with induction.
