Western Spirit (Tecolote Wind) wind project in New Mexico.
EBCE’s renewable energy portfolio hit a couple more important milestones this month with the addition of two new operational projects: 100 megawatts of wind power and 10 megawatts of battery energy storage. The wind power is from the Western Spirit (Tecolote Wind) wind project in New Mexico. EBCE, along with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, San José Clean Energy, California Choice Energy Authority, and others are sharing the output. EBCE has a 10-year contract. EBCE’s Henrietta D Energy Storage project is also operating in Kings County, California. EBCE has a 10-year contract for this 10 MW facility. The cities of Albany, Berkeley, Dublin, Hayward, Pleasanton, and San Leandro have recently committed their cities to transition to renewable energy for their electricity supply in 2022! Businesses and residents (with some exceptions) will transition from their current plan with East Bay Community Energy to the Renewable 100 plan. Renewable 100 is 100% California wind and solar energy priced at 1 cent per kWh above PG&E’s generation rate. Join us on a webinar to learn about this transition and ask any questions for live responses from EBCE staff! A schedule of informative webinars is available here. More information about the transition to renewable energy is available here. The webinars will be recorded and posted here.
