Psst. Hey you. The one taking the time to read this newsletter. It's me, the newsletter writer. Just want you to know that while this month's edition is a little light on content, there is SO MUCH EXCITING STUFF in development at EBCE.
- In September we plan to enroll 2,000 customers into a community solar program that will save them 20% on their monthly electricity bill.
- We are designing a program to get portable batteries into the homes of customers who rely on life-sustaining electrical equipment like motorized wheelchairs and respirators. We'll provide a limited quantity for free to customers on CARE rates who live in areas at greatest likelihood of a power outage, and a discount for a broader audience.
- In 2022, several cities served by EBCE will change their default electric service to EBCE's Renewable 100, sourced exclusively from California wind and solar. That will move the needle on EBCE's power procurement toward more in-state renewable energy.
- EBCE will hold a limited-invitation ribbon-cutting event at our new 57.5 megawatt wind farm in Livermore. That facility will provide some of the supply for EBCE's Renewable 100 service.
Details to be provided in future issues of the newsletters, so stay tuned for details!

EBCE needs Community-Based Organizations to serve as project sponsors for our Community Solar program! Sponsors will be responsible for identifying community-suggested project sites, helping project developers and the community come together, and working with EBCE to conduct outreach and create interest in subscribing to the project. In exchange, the sponsor may be eligible for Marketing, Education & Outreach funds and get a 20% bill discount. Details at https://ebce.org/community-solar/

EBCE's local sponsorship funds will be used towards purchasing food for AniMeals, which is Valley Humane Society's pet food assistance program. This program distributes pet food through partnerships with Open Heart Kitchen (who serves free, nutritious meals to humans!) and Alameda County Fairgrounds.
A portable power station for Ecology Center in Berkeley, restored gardens at Fertile Ground Work in Livermore, and more!
EBCE selected six local organizations to receive up to $2,500 each during the latest round of EBCE's Local Sponsorships. We are so proud to fund the efforts of these organizations that make the East Bay so vibrant.
Applications for the next round of sponsorships are due by November 30, 2021 and available here.
