Dear Peak Day Pricing customer:
Commercial electricity customers in Newark, Pleasanton, and Tracy will be automatically transitioning to East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) service in April 2021. EBCE is a public agency formed by 14 cities and Alameda County. EBCE launched our services to over 550,000 accounts in 2018, and we have saved our customers over $20 million since then. This year we are adding the cities of Newark, Pleasanton, and Tracy to our service area, based on unanimous votes of the City Council members in those cities. You should have received information about this transition in the mail, and additional information is available at ebce.org/welcome.
Your account has been identified as enrolled in PG&E’s Peak Day Pricing (PDP) program. PG&E customers participating in PDP will no longer be eligible for the program should they decide to stay with EBCE. Peak Day Pricing is a program that is designed only for PG&E bundled service customers. When you transition to EBCE service, you will automatically be un-enrolled from PDP. You will not receive any PDP credits moving forward, and will also not be subject to any PDP events or pricing. Your service will be transitioned to EBCE service at your otherwise applicable rate schedule.
While PDP is unavailable to EBCE customers, you may be eligible for alternative Demand Response programs which reward reductions in electricity usage during certain event periods. More information on these programs is available at: http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/General.aspx?id=6306
There is a statewide effort to develop an Emergency Load Reduction Program that will pay customers to reduce power use during grid emergencies. EBCE is working with the state to ensure that this program is available to EBCE customers.
Participation with EBCE is voluntary; however, in accordance with state law, customers in our service area will have their generation services automatically provided by EBCE unless they choose to opt out. To learn more about EBCE and your options, please visit ebce.org. If you have questions about our service or wish to opt out, you can reach our call center at 1-833-699-EBCE (3223), email customer-support@ebce.org, or your EBCE account analyst at dkelly@ebce.org. We look forward to serving you.
Thank you,
East Bay Community Energy
