Remember last year when EBCE signed our first batch of renewable energy project contracts? Well, the developers have been busy putting the steel in the ground and we're inching closer to the ribbon-cutting events for our first two renewable energy projects! The Altamont Winds project, a 57.5 megawatt wind farm near Livermore will be operational before Spring 2021. The Clearway Energy project, a solar project being developed in Kern County with output shared by two other public power agencies, will go online next month. This is so exciting, and we can't wait to give our customers a virtual tour!
In related news, EBCE has issued a renewable energy and storage Request for Offers for additional projects. And our trade group, CalCCA, recently announced that community choice aggregators in the state have to date signed long-term power purchase agreements for more than 6,000 megawatts of new-build clean energy resources. CCAs like EBCE are the main drivers of new clean energy procurement in California. To paraphrase Barack Obama, it's what we do!

East Bay Community Energy customers will receive our 2019 Power Content Label (PCL) this month either by email or postal mail. It’s a state-required annual communication that shows the mix of sources used to provide electricity service during the previous calendar year.
This year, for customers with an email on file with PG&E, EBCE is sending the PCL electronically in order to save over 11,000 pounds of paper. EBCE will send hard copies to customers who do not have an email address on file.
We’re proud to announce that EBCE customers received a very “green” mix of power resources in 2019. For example, our popular Bright Choice option saved customers $8 million on their energy bills and was sourced from 60% renewable energy (primarily wind power) and 25% large hydroelectric power. You can view EBCE’s Power Content Label here.
