I held my annual Spring Kids Fishing Derby at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea!
It was a day of family fun and enjoyment for over 200 hundred kids trying to catch the biggest catfish. OCEA brought their hotdogger to the event, delivering up a tasty lunch for attendees.
Thank you to OC Parks and all the vendors that participated. Stay tuned for our next Kids Fishing Derby this upcoming Fall!

AI Summit |
 |
|
I attended and hosted the 3rd Annual Student and Community Voice AI Summit and gave welcoming remarks. Participants at the Summit explored best practices for responsible AI use and learn how to advocate for tech justice policies in their schools and communities. The Summit aims to help shape the future of AI in education and society, ensuring this powerful tool is utilized for positive impact.
I was pleased to sponsor the Summit to ensure educators and students can learn about the effectiveness of AI in education but also how to use in an ethical manner. This year there were over 700 registered attendees, representing over 100 school districts.
Thank you to Anaheim Union High School District, Inflexion, UCI School of Education, and Youth Engage for also hosting this important event.

Staff Retreat |
 |
|
We held our annual District 4 Staff Retreat at Santiago Oaks Regional Parks. County COO Jessica Witt and OC Community Resources Director Dylan Wright started the retreat with insights of their career journey in the county and answered questions from staff on how to be leaders in the county.
We also had important talks with retired Anaheim Union Superintendent Michael Matsuba and former Anaheim councilmember Dr. Jose Moreno about policy making decisions and legacy.
OC Parks Rangers helped our team take a mid-day hike to the historic dam and provided some interesting history of the park. The retreat was a great way to foster team spirit and camaraderie.

I was able to share important updates about the budget, public safety, community health, and several pilot programs I have introduced while on the Board. It was great to meet and have meaningful conversations with members of OCPAA regarding the County's 2026 plan and vision.

Represenative Tran was able to secure over a million dollars in funding for the Hope Center that will be used to hire and train liscensed professionals to help individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and addiction.

Orange County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls Report |
 |
|
The County has released the 2026 Women & Girls of Orange County report. This publication represents the first comprehensive assessment of the conditions of women and girls in Orange County in more than three decades and establishes a countywide baseline to support data‑driven policy and program development.
On March 12, 2024, I introduced an item to establish the Orange County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls restoring a dedicated advisory body tasked to provide annual reports and ongoing support for the first time since the original Commission was dissolved in 1991.
By establishing the Orange County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, we reaffirmed the County’s commitment to listening to data and lived experience. This inaugural report is more than a benchmark — it’s a data driven roadmap. It equips the Board and our community partners to target resources, close gaps, and ensure that women and girls in every OC neighborhood can thrive.
