Kindness Awards Ceremony

Our 7th Annual Fourth District Kindness Award Ceremony was hosted on November 13 which is also observed as World Kindness Day.

We were fortunate to have former Anaheim Councilman Dr. Jose F. Moreno serve as our emcee for the evening.

Following the Honorable Tom Tait’s initiative to encourage acts of kindness in the City of Anaheim, the Kindness Awards recognizes residents in the Fourth District who exemplify exceptional kindness or community service.

The honorees for the 7th Annual Fourth District Kindness Awards were:

  • City of Anaheim: Angelo Barsotti
  • City of Brea: Barry Burriesci
  • City of Buena Park: Leslee Milch
  • City of Fullerton: Christine Givens
  • City of La Habra: Vanessa Perkins
  • City of Placentia: Carla Hutchinson
  • City of Stanton: Eliza Labunog

We also awarded the Honorary Kindness Award to Jay Williams.

It is especially important for us to acknowledge and appreciate kindness wherever we can find it. Our Kindness Award honorees have risen to the challenge and have gone beyond that to ensure the needs of our communities are met.

Thank you to our distinguished panel of judges, including the Honorable Tom Tait, Charles Barfield, Lorena Moreno, Rosalina Davis, and Christian Esteban for selecting our honorees.

We also send special thank you’s to Fullerton Free Church for allowing us host the event at their venue, the Jay Ray Singers, Savanna High School Macondo Ballet Folklorico,  Kristi’s Catering, and Ronald Galang for his photography services.

Including the results from the previous two- gun buybacks held, we have been able to collect 1,055 firearms including 76 assault weapons. In addition, 122 gun locks were distributed through the OC Free Gun Lock program.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to all our partners, Garden Grove Police Department, Buena Park Police Department, Fullerton Police Department, Placentia Police Department, Orange Police Department, Westminster Police Department, Los Alamitos Police Department, and Fountain Valley Police Department who provided staffing and supported the Gun Buyback. Mail Fraud of Taxpayer Checks

The Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector (TTC) has confirmed a recent mail fraud case involving multiple stolen FY 2025-26 secured property tax checks. These checks were never received at the TTC and were apparently stolen during postal transit and later found for sale on the dark web.

The agency strongly recommends taxpayers pay their secured property taxes online:

  • Scan the QR code on your property tax bill to go directly to your parcel page at TaxBill.octreasurer.gov
  • Pay online to receive same-day credit and a printed receipt. Use eCheck (no service fee) or pay by credit card (service fee applies).
  • Check your parcel status and payment history to confirm receipt of a recent mailed payment.

Paying online is safe, secure, and fast. Avoid delays and reduce the risk of fraud. As a reminder, important secured property tax due dates are:

  1. First installment due: November 1, 2025, delinquent if received after December 10
  2. Second installment: February 1, 2026, delinquent if received after April 10

Questions or comments? Contact the Property Tax Call Center at (714) 834-3411 Mon – Fri, 8 am to 5 pm, or email AskTaxCollector@octreasurer.gov

Pet of the Week
Meet Kim!

Kim might just be the diva you're looking for! This sassy 7-year-old pittie mix enjoys going with the flow and taking walks for as long as you'll let her. She loves walks so much, when it's time to go back, she'll put on her brakes and pretend she's sightseeing.

Kim is easy to handle, already potty trained, and great with both kids and other dogs. She attended multiple adoption events where she was on her best behavior. Her affectionate and sweet personality makes her an ideal companion for new pet owners or seasoned pet parents looking to add more furry love to their life!

In honor of Adopt a Senior Pet Month, give Kim the loving home she deserves by adopting her today! Call OC Animal Care at (714) 935-6848 and mention her animal ID A1924424 to schedule a visit with her.
