Good Dogs Don't Make It to the South Pole by Hans Olav Thyvold
Tassen’s owner has died, leaving him alone with the wife. He’s always been a one-man dog, but the two start to bond while the wife researches south pole expeditions and the dogs that helped. Enter the son and daughter-in-law, eager to move into the big house and send the wife to a nursing home with no mention of what will happen to Tassen! But Tassen and the wife are not about to give up without a fight. This novel, which is funny and a little dark, is a great read for fans of The Art of Racing in the Rain, which is also told from the dog’s point of view.
