Rita Recommends: Adult Book
The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman
Nina is a bookish character, not just because she enjoys reading… booking herself to her hearts content in an extremely organized planner, working at the bookstore, being an active member of the trivia team, and keeping herself up-to-date on trends regarding, movies, book clubs, and her personal book reading. However, when her unknown father dies, Nina is met with a newfound family residing in Southern California. Unsure or unwilling to break out of her routine and hermit like lifestyle, Nina is prodded out of her sitting chair and into a life that throws her planner out of whack. Gilmore Girls fans will take interest in The Bookish Life of Nina Hill as it is up the chick-lit alley, filled with fish out of water situations, and awkward/undesired gatherings with a likeable, relatable, snarky main character.
