Free healthy meals for children and teens 18 and under. No registration is required.

Meals distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Service is set up as a drive-thru style for pickup; however, walk-ups are accepted.

Orange County Poet Laureate

Aligning with National Poetry Month OC Public Libraries is pleased to announce a partnership with @LibroMobile Arts Co-Op to launch the inaugural OC Poet Laureate (OC-PL) and OC Youth Poet Laureate (OCYPL) programs in Orange County!

Aiming to reflect regional demographics, these programs are intended to inspire and promote cultural connections and community partnerships by celebrating local poets using their powerful voices to impact social change.

One OC Poet Laureate and one OC Youth Poet Laureate will be selected for the 2021-2022 program year. Inaugural applications for the OC-PL and OCYPL programs will open on April 15, 2021 and be accepted through July 15, 2021. Announcement of the 2021-2022 OC Poet Laureate Appointments will be made on August 15, 2021.

Rita Recommends: Teen Book

The Bird and the Blade by Megan Bannen

This book follows Jinghua, a Chinese slave girl, as she finds herself an unlikely conspirator in the escape of Prince Khalaf and his father across the Mongol Empire. This book is incredibly written as Bannen successfully splits the narrative in two (the past and present) in order to slowly reveal the story to the reader. The tale contains ghosts, riddles, and poems from all across Central and East Asia. Rita highly recommends this novel though it may leave you in tears by the end.
