New Terminal for Ontario International Airport
Ontario International Airport Authority announced plans for a major expansion at Ontario International Airport, including a new passenger terminal, parking structure, rental car support facility, and other infrastructure improvements.
The plan follows several years of strong passenger growth, with the airport serving 7.1 million travelers last year, a 27% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Officials noted that peak travel demand already exceeds current terminal capacity, highlighting the need for expanded facilities.
Under the proposal, Terminals 2 and 4 would be modernized, and a new 650,000-square-foot Terminal 3 would be constructed, along with roadway, taxiway, and utility upgrades. The project is expected to be completed over a 10-year period, with final details still under development.
