City Council Meetings

Regularly scheduled City Council Meetings are held at 6:30 PM on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 303 E. B Street. Meetings are broadcasted LIVE on OntarioTV and our local cable Channel 3.

Street Sweeping in Ontario

To improve our streets and protect our community, the City of Ontario is implementing new street sweeping parking restrictions. This program is essential to prevent flooding, protect our stormwater systems, and keep our streets clean.

Key Things to Know:

• Sign Installation: Began in late October 2024 and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2025. 
• Enforcement: Enforcement will begin citywide on Monday, May 5, 2025. 

Christmas Tree Collection

The City's Integrated Waste Department will collect Christmas trees Thursday, January 2 through Friday, January 17. Natural trees are chipped, mixed with leaves, and recycled into rich compost for beneficial reuse.

Natural Trees

• Please remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, stands, and plastic coverings from your tree before placing on the curb.
• Do not place your tree in a plastic bag.
• Place the tree next to the containers on your regular collection day.
• Please schedule a bulky item pick-up by contacting (909) 395-2050 for Christmas trees set out after January 17.

Artificial Trees

• Donate artificial trees in good condition to your local nonprofit organizations.
• If possible, recycle the base and trunk (pole) of the tree in the blue recycling bin.
• Remove all lights, ornaments, and tinsel before placing the tree on curb.
• If the lights are still intact, please remove them.
• If ornaments and tinsel are still intact, please place in the black refuse bin.

Citywide Water Main Improvement Project

In an effort to increase the service life of the City’s potable water system, the Ontario Municipal Utilities Company (OMUC) utilizes the City’s Water Master Plan and aging asset review to identify and replace undersized and aging pipelines.

As a proactive approach, OMUC invests annually in its citywide water main improvement project.

In October 2024, work was completed on a citywide water main improvements at multiple locations throughout the City. This consisted of the replacement of:

• 2-inch, 4-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch diameter pipe using approximately 12,000 lineal feet of 8-inch and 4,000 lineal feet of 12-inch diameter pipe, which is equivalent to over three miles of new pipeline.
• Installation of water appurtenances
• Installation of water service laterals and connection to new water meters
• Making multiple water main connections at various street intersections
• Pavement repairs and street restoration

🔹 Total Construction Costs for Citywide Water Main Improvement Project – $7.9M (May 2022 – October 2024)
🔹 Total Design/Engineering Cost - $350,000 (April 2019 – October 2024)

Yard Sale Weekend

The first citywide yard (garage) sale weekend of 2025 is Friday, January 31, 2025, through Sunday, February 2, 2025. If rainy conditions exist on that Friday or Saturday, an alternate yard sale may be held on February 7, 8, and 9, 2025. Yard sales are permitted city-wide between the hours of 7 AM and 6 PM.

Rise Up

Rise up and read this winter! Beginning in January, Ontario City Library will launch Rise – a new service that offers free reading assistance and instruction to children in kindergarten through second grade. Open exclusively to Ontario residents, Rise helps students learn and practice literacy skills to become strong readers. Rise consists of two components: regularly scheduled programs that strengthen children’s existing reading skills while introducing new ones and a tutoring service for students who need additional reading instruction. Both services are completely free of cost to participants.

Opening Exhibitions 

Mission Gráfica: Reflecting a Community in Print and Centered in Ink: Printmaking in the Inland Empire open January 9 – March 9, 2025

The Ontario Museum of History & Art (OMHA) is pleased to present Mission Gráfica: Reflecting a Community in Print and companion exhibit, Centered in Ink: Printmaking in the Inland Empire. Offering a platform for creative expression, these two concurrent exhibitions showcase a range of printmaking techniques and styles, sparking conversations about the artists' practices, the themes they explore, and the ways in which their work engages with and impacts the local community.

Mission Gráfica: Reflecting a Community in Print is a touring exhibition developed in partnership with the San Francisco Public Library, artists from Mission Gráfica, and Exhibit Envoy. It is based on the book of the same name.

Centered in Ink: Printmaking in the Inland Empire is organized by the Ontario Museum of History & Art and highlights local artists who use printmaking as a platform to showcase their work, allowing them to share their artistic voices with a wider audience.

Join the Museum on Saturday, January 11, 2025 for an afternoon of art and printmaking featuring artists in the exhibitions Mission Gráfica: Reflecting a Community in Print and Centered in Ink: Printmaking in the Inland Empire. Light refreshments will be provided.

All City Facilities will be closed on Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, January 21.

Ontario International Airport closes out another great year

Ontario International Airport is coming off another successful holiday travel season, with a projected 350,000 passengers expected to fly into or out of the popular gateway during the 18-day period ending January 5. Those projections represent a 4% increase year-over-year and a 21% increase from the holiday travel season just prior to the pandemic. The strong holiday showing is expected to push ONT’s 2024 passenger numbers over 7 million, up 75% since the airport’s return to local ownership. The Community Improvement Department hopes everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a Happy New Year!

The Community Improvement Department is dedicated to maintaining the health, safety, and livability of our neighborhoods. Residents can assist with this crucial mission by checking off the following items on the Winter To-Do List to ensure everyone stays safe, happy, and healthy.

1. Remove all temporary holiday lights and decorations in a timely manner.
2. Ensure all fuel-burning equipment and appliances are connected to an approved chimney or vent.
3. Maintain the manufacturer’s recommended clearances around all space heaters.
4. Ensure all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly.
