Ontario's Downtown Retail Pop-up Program Moves Forwad
The Ontario Economic Development Agency is thrilled to announce an exciting update on the Downtown Retail Pop-up Program. This initiative aims to revitalize the downtown area by offering three $1 short-term leases to small businesses.
The program has received an overwhelming response, with nearly 420 applications from entrepreneurs across Southern California, including record shops, vintage boutiques, soap makers, and gift shops.
As of Monday, July 8, all applications have been thoroughly evaluated by a panel of judges. Starting Friday, July 12, these judges will convene to review their scores and determine which businesses will move forward in the selection process.
This program is a significant success, not only attracting new businesses to downtown Ontario but also supporting current tenants. The site selection team is actively assisting existing businesses in finding permanent locations in the downtown area, further enhancing the community's growth and vibrancy.
The City of Ontario Economic Development Agency extends its gratitude to all applicants for their enthusiasm and participation. The City wishes everyone the best of luck and thanks them for contributing to the community's development.
Stay tuned for more updates.
Historic Bank of Italy Welcomes New Tenants
We are excited to announce the opening of Mule Car Smokehouse, a vibrant new venue at 200 N Euclid Ave in the heart of historic downtown Ontario.
Originally set to open as Glenwood, the owner decided to rename it Mule Car to honor the area’s storied past, where a mule car once transported passengers from Holt Boulevard to 24th Street in the 1800s.
Mule Car revitalizes the iconic Bank of Italy and Bumstead Bicycles buildings, preserving stunning original features such as high ceilings, steel beams, and beautiful columns. This space uniquely blends historical charm with modern flair.
Join us for signature cocktails and barbecue favorites, including ribs, brisket from the smoker, and wagyu skirt steak fajitas, during our Summer Concert series!
This historic building will also house an upcoming tapas bar and lounge on the rooftop, perfectly complementing Ontario’s expanding Civic Center, the new University of La Verne College of Health and Community Well Being, and other local developments.

Located in Ontario’s bustling industrial area, Metabolic Brewing Co. has already begun to establish itself as a local favorite. The brewery offers a spunky and retro atmosphere where an appreciation for craft beer meets science fiction.
We invite you to visit Metabolic Brewing Co. at 1609 S. Grove Ave, Ontario, and show your support!
