Celebrate Independence Day in Ontario
 Independence Day Parade
Ontario’s Independence Day Parade will take place along Euclid Avenue beginning at 9:00 AM. The Parade begins at Fourth Street and heads south on the southbound lanes to G Street where the route will cross over to the northbound lanes heading south to the end of the parade route at B Street.
All-States Picnic
Enjoy the "All-States Picnic" family activities at Ontario Town Square (224 N. Euclid Avenue) starting at 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Bring your own picnic or visit one of the food vendors. Family friendly activities will include free crafts, games, and an Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band Performance.
Fireworks Spectacular
The Fireworks Spectacular show and festivities will take place at Westwind Park (2455 E. Riverside Drive). The park will open at 5:00 PM. New this year, a patriotic drone show at 8:45 PM followed by the Fireworks Spectacular at 9:00 PM.
  The West Valley Connector (WVC)
The West Valley Connector (WVC) project will be a 100% zero-emission Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, the first stage of the San Bernardino County zero-emission Bus Initiative and second BRT route in San Bernardino County.
Phase I of the project is 19 miles and will upgrade a portion of existing Route 61 which runs along Holt Boulevard, adding approximately 3.5 miles as center running, dedicated bus-only lanes. There will be 21 stations in Phase I that will provide an improved transit connection to Ontario International Airport (ONT) and help build transit connectivity by linking ONT, two Metrolink lines (San Bernardino and Riverside) and multiple major activity centers along the route including Ontario Mills and Victoria Gardens. Headways will be 10 minutes in the peak commute period and 15 minutes off-peak, providing a high level of service to the community.
New Traffic Patterns on Holt Boulevard If you've driven down Holt Boulevard recently, you noticed a new traffic pattern on Holt Boulevard between Corona Avenue and Grove Avenue. Crews are restriping and shifting all lanes of traffic to the south to create a protected work area along westbound (WB) Holt Boulevard while construction takes place to widen the WB roadway to accommodate the new center running bus lane. If you must drive on Holt, plan ahead, leave early, and follow construction signage for the new lane configuration.
This configuration will be in place for approximately 10 months. Two lanes will be maintained in each direction of Holt Boulevard during this time, however street parking will be eliminated in the work zones for the duration of the project.
Once work is complete along WB Holt Boulevard, all lanes will shift north to the newly constructed roadway and crews will perform the same work in the opposite direction to accommodate the widening of the eastbound (EB) roadway.

Ontario Acquires Euclid Avenue
The City of Ontario has taken yet another bold and visionary step in the renaissance of its Downtown, acquiring control of historic Euclid Avenue from the state and creating new opportunities for the central district’s main north-south corridor.
The transfer of ownership, which took effect June 20, 2024, gives the City the authority to make improvements to Euclid as it sees fit, which may include more activation in the green belt, improved light synchronization and enhanced wayfinding and signage. Euclid Avenue and its beautifully preserved median encompass all of the historic thoroughfare within the City boundaries, from the I-10 freeway at the northern edge Merrill Avenue on the southern edge.
The downtown renaissance offers a unique blend of history, economic opportunity and livability, elements of which include modern affordable housing, state-of-the-art transit, restaurants and retail, a university campus and adaptive re-use of historic structures.
The newest addition to downtown dining is the Mule Car Smokehouse, located at 200 N. Euclid Avenue at the former Bank of Italy building, built in 1923, and underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation. The project also includes a separate rooftop restaurant and bar, El Balcon, that will offer tapas-style fare, cocktails and live music. It will overlook Town Square, a popular location for events such as the Summer Concert series. This development is a prime example of the City’s commitment to establishing the downtown area as a regional destination.
The Art of Healing
 The Art of Healing
The Ontario Museum of History & Art (OMHA) and Chaffey Community Museum of Art (CCMA) are pleased to present The Art of Healing, the fourth collaboration between the two museums. All four exhibits have been organized in the same way: presenting a single theme, interpreted in two distinct ways.
The Art of Healing explores the concept of art promoting healing in those who are ill, their families, and in the artists themselves. Locally, this was exemplified in the mid-1950s when San Antonio Community Hospital assembled an art collection to display on hospital walls and in patient rooms. As its name implies, CCMA’s exhibit Highlights from the San Antonio Hospital Collection presents selected works of art from the hospital’s collection. OMHA’s exhibition, Holistic Expressions, showcases the transformative power art can have on the healing process through the work of five artists living in Southern California.

The City of Ontario is thankful to Omnitrans for funding our Ontario Silver S.T.A.R.S. Program. In July 2022, Ontario received Measure I funds in the amount of $675,582 ($495,582 in operating funding and $180.000 in capital funding) to fund the implementation of the Silver S.T.A.R.S. program out of the Recreation & Community Services Department.
Since then, City staff have worked diligently to ramp up operations and implement the program. We are also pleased to announce that we were recently notified that the City of Ontario received continued and new funding to expand operations of the Ontario Silver S.T.A.R.S. program. Over the next two years, Ontario will receive an additional $1,190,284 ($1,005,290 in operating funding and $184,994 in capital funding) in Measure I funding from Omnitrans for this program. The new funding will allow for the purchase of additional vehicles, additional staffing resources, expand transportation options to other city facilities and non-emergency medical appointments, grocery shopping, and expansion of the program hours into the evenings and weekends.

Community Improvement: Tip of the Month
 Pool Safety and Pool Maintenance
Did you know that the Ontario Municipal Code (OMC 5.22.02 (k)) and the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC 303.1, 303.2) require property owners with swimming pools to keep them “clean and sanitary, and in good repair”? Additionally, pools must be enclosed by a fence at least 48 inches high with self-closing and self-latching gate hardware.
Properly maintaining your pool is crucial for neighborhood safety and health. Neglected pools can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, increasing the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses like West Nile virus in our community.
While adult supervision of children around pools is irreplaceable, maintaining clear water and installing proper fencing and gate hardware adds vital layers of protection against drowning.
To report an unmaintained pool in your neighborhood, please contact the Community Improvement Department at (909) 395-2007. Let's work together to keep our community safe and healthy!
