Civic Center Campus Expansion
The City of Ontario began work on the Civic Center Campus Expansion late summer, a part of the broader Ontario Plan to revitalize downtown. This effort envisions a modernized Civic Center Campus that will contribute to the reactivation of downtown, attracting more activity in downtown and optimizing available space.
The first project is complete - a storm drain line on D Street, between Cherry Avenue and Sultana Avenue. The next project set to begin this month is the new location for Fire Station #1 on the corner of Sultana Avenue and D Street.

West Valley Connector
Preconstruction activities are underway on the West Valley Connector (WVC) project including property acquisition and demolition in anticipation for the start of construction in December 2023. The 100% zero-emission Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system is the first stage of the San Bernardino County zero-emission Bus Initiative and second BRT route in San Bernardino County.
Phase I of the project is 19 miles and will upgrade a portion of existing Route 61, which runs along Holt Boulevard, adding approximately 3.5 miles as center running, dedicated bus-only lanes. There will be 21 stations in Phase I that will provide an improved transit connection to Ontario International Airport (ONT) and link ONT, two Metrolink lines (San Bernardino and Riverside) and multiple major activity centers along the route.
