Oversized Vehicle Parking
The enforcement of oversized vehicle parking on the streets has begun. Oversized vehicles, such as large trucks or recreational vehicles, can obstruct the view of drivers and pedestrians, leading to potential accidents. They also require more space to maneuver and park compared to regular vehicles, occupying multiple parking spaces or impeding the flow of traffic, causing congestion and inconvenience for other road users.
Our City streets and roadways have weight and size limitations designed to protect the underlying infrastructure, such as pavement and underground utilities. Oversized vehicles that exceed these limits can cause damage to the road surface or put strain on underground infrastructure.
And, oversized vehicles parked on streets for extended periods can have an adverse impact on the visual appeal of a neighborhood. Let’s be considerate to our neighbors and fellow businesses and continue to make Ontario safe and beautiful.
Please apply for a permit online using the link below. To provide adequate time for permit processing, please submit your application at least five business days before you wish to park.

Outdoor / Street Vendor Permits
In 2018, the State of California modernized laws associated with small retail street vending in Senate Bill 972. In support of these new laws, it does require the vendor to obtain a permit from the City of Ontario. The purpose of the permit with the City is to provide guidelines for vendors to follow. They ensure that vendors comply with health and safety standards, zoning regulations, and other requirements for the health and safety of their customers and the community in which they operate.
Street vending permits often require vendors to meet specific health and sanitation standards to protect public health. This includes guidelines for food handling, preparation, and storage to minimize the risk of foodborne illnesses. By obtaining permits, vendors demonstrate their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety in their operations, ensuring the well-being of customers. The permit process also provides protections for the employees of these operations should there be illegal working conditions.
The City of Ontario is here to help small vendor operations be successful. To view the requirements or obtain a permit, please follow the instructions provided in the link below.

Meet Mac! The newest member of the Ontario Fire Department
Working Dogs for Warriors generously donated Mac to the Ontario Fire Department for our C.O.A.S.T team. C.O.A.S.T is our Community Outreach and Support Team. They specialize in crisis intervention for any department member and the citizens of Ontario. Firefighter Paramedic Victor Lopez will be his handler.
The Fire Department Working Dogs for Warriors program brings together two essential pillars of our society - firefighters who selflessly protect and serve our communities, and service dogs who have dedicated their lives to assisting veterans and first responders struggling with physical and mental health challenges.
Recognizing the unique capabilities of service dogs, the Ontario Fire Department has opened their doors to embrace these four-legged heroes. Trained specifically for the needs of firefighters, these exceptional canines can be deployed to support various operations, while supporting the mental health of our firefighters and community members as well.
Welcome aboard Mac!
Dog Owners Be Aware – Summer is Here
As the summer heat settles upon our beautiful City, it's crucial to remember the safety and well-being of our furry friends. Leaving dogs in hot cars can have severe consequences. Even on seemingly mild days, the temperature inside a parked car can quickly rise to dangerous levels. Dogs, unable to cool themselves as efficiently as humans, are highly susceptible to heatstroke and organ damage. As responsible pet owners and compassionate neighbors, we must take action to protect our beloved companions.
- Never leave your dog alone in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
- If you spot a dog left unattended in a vehicle on a hot day, take immediate action. Note the car's make, model, and license plate, and alert the authorities or contact the local animal control.
- Spread awareness among family, friends, and neighbors.
- Plan ahead and avoid taking your dog on car trips during peak heat hours.
- Opt for dog-friendly destinations where your furry friend can accompany you outside the car. Many parks, outdoor cafes, and recreational spots in Ontario welcome dogs with open paws.
Let's ensure that this summer remains a joyful and safe season for everyone, including our beloved dogs.
Pet licenses are important. When lost pets end up in shelters, those with license tags get home faster, opening up shelter space for the animals that truly need it. License fees also help support critical community initiatives.
Made In Ontario: Season 7 Kick-Off Ft. Action Embroidery
Action Embroidery Corporation was founded in 1942 in West New York, New Jersey, and moved to Ontario in 1986. Since then, they have manufactured embroidered emblems and created patches for every military branch - army, navy, air force, marines, coast guard, and even the newly formed space force. Fun fact - they also make patches for some of our favorite sports teams!
Action Embroidery's commitment to quality and service has never wavered. They produce an impressive average of nine to ten million patches every year.
The City wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ira Newman and all the hardworking employees at Action Embroidery. Your dedication and commitment to creating these iconic patches for our brave military personnel is truly commendable. Because of your efforts, these individuals take such great pride in wearing them.
