Ontario Fire Department Provides Mutual Aid
As wildland fires continue to burn during this heatwave, our Ontario Fire Department provides mutual aid assistance to our partnered agencies across the state. Strike Team 6820A, with resources from Montclair, San Bernardino County, Apple Valley and Ontario Fire Departments, recently provided structure defense at the Lick Observatory, just east of San Jose.
These fire engines are purchased by the California Office of Emergency Services (OES). They are assigned to local agencies, who maintain them year-round and staff them as needed.
We thank our Fire Department for their hard work during these historic wildfires. Even as we provide assistance to the state, our Ontario fire stations and apparatus remain fully staffed and ready to serve the City of Ontario.

SB Express Lanes Update
Construction on the I-10 Express Lanes project continues with freeway lanes being narrowed and shifted throughout the corridor. For the next few months, crossover (temporary) lanes will be put in place. Crossover lanes are being built to allow traffic to safely cross onto the opposing side of the freeway so that crews can widen the freeway for the new Express Lanes.
Upcoming Work:
- In mid-September, Mountain Avenue will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between 6th Street and 7th Street for crews to start work on widening the I-10 over Mountain Avenue.
- In late-September, the median on I-10 between Indian Hill Boulevard and Euclid Avenue will be removed. The space where the median is today will become new temporary eastbound lanes on I-10. The far two left lanes of traffic will shift (or crossover) to the new lanes.
For weekly construction alerts, visit gosbcta.com.
