Holiday Wishes From Your City Council
Mayor Paul S. Leon
Mayor pro Tem Ruben Valencia
Council Member Alan D. Wapner
Council Member Jim W. Bowman
Council Member Debra Dorst-Porada
The Thanksgiving turkey has been carved. Black Friday shoppers have gone home with their discounted loot. Cyber Monday was lit up with record buys and Giving Tuesday unleashed people's will to do good for causes important to them and their families. Well done!
Your City Council would like you to do yourself and your family a favor by getting out to one of the many holiday events happening around Ontario this month. It will be fun to see friends, neighbors, heck – even strangers(!) all coming together to enjoy the sense of community that permeates throughout the City.
When you and yours are out there laughing and smiling, you are actively investing in Ontario. With you, we are building our community. There is value to being amongst your neighbors, friends and family. So, as all the duties that require your attention during this holiday season burden and distract your thoughts, let us help you take a moment to enjoy Christmas on Euclid and this amazing place that is our home, Ontario.
Happy Holidays and see you at the Tree Lighting!

Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Events
The annual tree lighting event at Ontario Town Square is scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2019 at 6 pm. The community is invited to attend the ceremonial countdown to light the tree and officially welcome the holiday season. Food vendors, local dance groups, and the arrival of Santa are planned for the event. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a free family movie night under the stars with your neighbors, friends and family. Prancer will be showing, a classic holiday favorite.
NEW for 2019 is the relocation of the 5K Reindeer Run to Euclid Avenue. Starting at 7 am on Saturday, December 14th, everyone is invited to a pancake breakfast by the Kiwanis Club. Not only the participants, but those that cheer them on can enjoy great food and excitement at the start of the race. Directly following, the annual Christmas on Euclid craft fair and festival takes place from 10 am to 5 pm at Ontario Town Square.

According to package theft statistics, more than 23 million Americans have had their packages stolen. A staggering 11 million homeowners have had a package stolen in the last year. So, you would think that Ontario is no different. However, Ontario is different because our Police Department partners with Neighbors by Ring. The “Neighbors” app is a digital watch program that can be viewed on your phone where you can get real-time crime and safety alerts not only from law enforcement, but from your neighbors too.
The Ontario Police Department wants you to know what is happening in your neighborhood. Knowing when a crime has been committed will help police obtain leads and tips. Better informed residents are much more engaged with their police department and report suspicious activities. Furthermore, residents can connect with law enforcement and work together to reduce crime and improve public safety while at the same time eliminate false perceptions that crime may be rampant in any neighborhood.
Check out the Police Departments new Crime Map. Crimes reported for a week’s period-of-time are plotted with the type of crime that was committed. Utilize the various analytic tools offered to identify crime trends. You can also set up an alert and always be in the know.

Christmas Tree Collection
Before we know it, Christmas will be here. The fresh Christmas tree we couldn’t wait to decorate (or not) has begun to dry out. Strategically we will try to remove the tree without leaving so many pine needles on the floor, especially in the carpet. Putting it off is not an option as they become a fire hazard.
Below is information to help you plan the removal of your tree for the 2020 Christmas Tree Collection:
- Collection period will be for 2 weeks: January 6, 2020 - January 17, 2020.
- Place tree at curbside on regularly scheduled collection day.
- No flocked trees accepted. Please remove ornaments, lights, and stands.
- Apartment and condo complexes can call Revenue Services at (909) 395-2050 to schedule collection.
