Draft Cultural Plan Released for Public Feedback

A draft of the City’s first comprehensive citywide arts and culture plan, “Belonging in Oakland: A Cultural Development Plan” has just been released. The Cultural Plan looks to advance Oakland as a dynamic hub for cultural practices that benefit residents, businesses and visitors. It includes insights from the local community as well as an analysis of the local arts economy, including a massively detailed Cultural Asset Map overlaying community organizations, nightlife, religious spaces, public art and more. Provide feedback on the draft plan at a community meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. on April 7 at the Dimond Branch Library or email culturalplan@oaklandnet.com. To learn more, visit www.oaklandnet.com/culturalplan or contact Cultural Affairs Manager Roberto Bedoya.

Montclair Firehouse on Moraga Avenue

Montclair Firehouse

Unique Montclair Firehouse on the Market

One of Oakland's most unusual buildings, the gingerbread-style Montclair Firehouse at 6226 Moraga Avenue, is now available for purchase or lease. The City is accepting proposals for development for both it and the neighboring City-owned parcel, individually or together. Originally designed in the 1920s by the Oakland Public Works Department, the historic firehouse was closed following the 1989 earthquake. The second parcel is the adjoining unimproved, upsloping lot. For disclosure documents and open house dates, visit www.oaklandnet.com/realestate. RFP responses must be received by Friday, May 18. For more information, contact Real Estate Agent Jinnhua Su.

Leases Available at Brand New Foothill-Seminary Retail Center

This month, Walgreens is set to open a 14,250-square-foot store in the Seminary Point retail center that broke ground in February 2017. It’s A Grind Coffee House and Metro PCS have also signed leases at the center, which also includes a new public plaza and streetscape improvements. Prime retail spaces are still available in this transformative project. The retail center was created by Sunfield Development on a site assembled by the former Oakland Redevelopment Agency. For more information, contact Development Manager Larry Gallegos.
