New Wave of Roadway Repairs on Tap for California

MTC
San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco as well as smaller cities around the Bay are moving quickly to put SB 1 road repair funds to work.
Benefits are beginning to flow to the Bay Area from state Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. MTC estimates SB 1 will generate more than $365 million per year for transportation in the nine-county Bay Area. Most of that funding will be directed to tackling the enormous backlog of maintenance and repairs for local streets, roads and public transit systems. Funding will also be available for mobility improvements and expanding bicycle and pedestrian access. The Bay Area is also well positioned to benefit from the new statewide competitive grant programs to reduce congestion and improve freight movement along trade corridors. More
