MTC Applauds Passage of $52 Billion Funding Package

  MTC commissioners are lauding state legislative leaders for their work in securing passage of Senate Bill 1, the largest transportation investment in California history. SB 1 is expected to generate $52.4 billion for transportation across the state over the next decade. By 2018-19, MTC estimates SB 1 will generate at least $365 million per year for transportation in the nine-county Bay Area. More

MTC   Draft Plan Bay Area 2040 Released for Public Comment
MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) have jointly released the Draft Plan Bay Area 2040, an updated long-range transportation and land use plan for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. Members of the public are encouraged to view and comment on the draft plan online at 2040.planbayarea.org. A list of open houses and public hearings is available here; the comment period closes Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 4 p.m. MORE
 
 
MTC   New Leadership Team Takes MTC Reins

MTC   BART Extension to Warm Springs Opens
The long-awaited BART extension to Warm Springs/South Fremont is now open for service. The $890 million project connects the new station with the Fremont station and will pave the way for BART’s Berryessa extension to north San Jose, set to open later this year. MORE
 
 
MTC   Clipper® Expands to Union City Transit
Clipper®, the all-in-one transit fare payment card already accepted on 20 Bay Area transit systems, has officially expanded to Union City Transit. The bus system will accept Clipper® cards loaded with cash value or a 31-day pass good for unlimited travel. MORE

This map highlights a recent study that examines traffic congestion in over 1,000 cities across 38 countries. The study reveals that the U.S. is ranked as the most congested developed country in the world and San Francisco is ranked as the fourth most congested city globally in terms of peak hours spent in congestion. The Bay Area Toll Authority, the Bay Area Headquarters Authority and the MTC Commission will meet starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Bay Area Metro Center, 375 Beale Street, San Francisco, in the Board Room.
