City Upgrading to New Utility Billing System |

The City of Mountain View is taking a major step forward in modernizing the City's water and waste utility services by implementing a new utility billing system that will replace the City's aging 20-year-old platform.
Scheduled to go live this fall, the new system will enhance customer service by providing utility account holders with more timely and accurate information about their water use while improving the reliability, efficiency, and flexibility of the City's billing operations. The new system also positions the City to support future technology enhancements and continue delivering exceptional service to the community.
The City will conduct outreach to utility account holders about the new billing system through the utility bill, MountainView.gov website, City Hall Connection e-newsletter, social media, and other communication channels.

"City in Action" Video Series Debuts |

The City of Mountain View launched a new monthly video series called “City in Action.”
The series highlights the variety of services and programs provided by the City across all 13 departments and the employees who deliver them to the Mountain View community. Each episode will spotlight an employee and the work they do for the City.
The debut episode features Transportation Manager Lauren Ledbetter, who gives insight into the Transportation Division and how they’re planning for the future of transportation in Mountain View. Watch the first episode online.
The public can watch the “City in Action” series on the City’s YouTube channel, YouTube.com/MountainViewGov and Mountain View City Television, Comcast cable channel 28, and AT&T U-verse channel 99.

Nomination Period Open for City Council Election |

If you are interested in running for City Council, the nomination period for the Nov. 3 General Municipal Election is open. The deadline to file papers is Friday, Aug. 7.

2026 Fall Activity Guide Now Available |
|
July is Park and Recreation Month!
Parks and recreation are fundamental to Mountain View’s quality of life. They provide places for physical activity, mental restoration, cultural expression, learning, and social connection, while also serving as essential public infrastructure that supports biodiversity, climate resilience, and environmental stewardship. In this past fiscal year, there were 13,755 enrollments in 692 recreation classes.
The 2026 Fall Activity Guide highlights programs taking place September through December, including new adult classes and holiday offerings.
Registration begins Monday, Aug. 3, for residents and Monday, Aug. 10, for nonresidents.

Get Ready for Fall Cleaning at Citywide Garage Sale |
|
|
Sweep out the summer cobwebs and register now for the Citywide Garage Sale. This year’s Garage Sale will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20.
This event supports the City of Mountain View's Zero Waste goals by keeping reusable items out of the landfill and conserving natural resources.
Sellers can register for free to have their home garage sale included on the City’s official sales map and can choose to participate on one day or both days of the sale.

Don't miss the 11th Annual Technology Showcase this Thursday, July 30! Presented by the City of Mountain View and the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, the event will return to Downtown Mountain View.
This free public event highlights the cutting-edge technologies being developed right here in Mountain View—by startups, global companies, and research institutions alike.
New this year, exhibits will focus on the local makers community who are focused on novel technology uses, including inventions as well as functional art. Returning will be the popular autonomous vehicle displays, drone demonstrations, space exploration installations, robotics missions, virtual environments, and more.

At 4 p.m. the event concludes at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts with a panel titled, "Leveling the Playing Field: AI for Small Businesses."
At this free session, the public will hear how artificial intelligence can help small businesses thrive and compete on a larger scale than was previously possible from both the perspective of those using AI tools as well as from the corporations developing them. Panelists include Intuit, LinkedIn, DeepLearning.AI, and St. Stephens Green.

Repair Café Silicon Valley is a volunteer-run, community service dedicated to encouraging the repair and reuse of goods, rather than sending them to the landfill.
At Repair Café events, volunteers will guide you either in tackling the repair yourself or in having it fixed while you watch and learn. Chances are you will leave with a useful item again and some knowledge of how to repair your item(s) and others'.
