Get the DROP on Data Brokers |
|
|
The State of California has launched DROP—the Delete Request and Opt-out Platform—a tool that enables California residents to submit a request to have their personal information deleted from more than 500 registered data brokers. DROP is now live, and data brokers will begin processing requests in August.
Benefits of the platform include:
-
More control of your data: Using DROP helps you limit the information data brokers collect and sell about you.
-
Reduced spam and scams: When your data stops getting sold, you’ll have fewer unwanted texts, calls, or emails.
-
Greater security: Decrease risk of identity theft, fraud, AI impersonations, or that your data is leaked or hacked.
DROP was established due to the Delete Act, which was authored and spearheaded by State Senator Josh Becker.

The American Bistro at Shoreline Lake is closed for renovation of their facilities and infrastructure. Construction is expected to take approximately one year, with the restaurant remaining closed through 2026.
The upgrades to American Bistro will include a kitchen and serving area expansion and adding new accessible restrooms. The Sailing Lake Boathouse remains open during construction and will continue to accept event reservations. The Boathouse facility and public restrooms will be upgraded as part of the project.
Please note that the outdoor Bistro patio will be fenced off (and not accessible to the public), as part of the restaurant building/facilities upgrade. The adjacent picnic area, while not fenced off, will continue acting as a dedicated venue rental space for Corporate & Special Events bookings – focusing on Shoreline-associated lawn activities and team building. Although event-related activities in this area are limited to those organized by Shoreline Lake, if not in use, visitors can still take a seat, relax, and enjoy the view.
