Mountain View’s sales tax receipts for Q1 2025 were up 1.7% compared to the same period in 2024, with actual sales growth of 2.3% after adjustments. While general consumer goods and service stations saw declines, gains were driven by casual dining, business-industry activity, and one-time allocations in building and construction. Statewide, sales tax revenues grew slightly (0.34%), with autos and construction showing the strongest rebounds.

Resource Spotlight: Recognizing Facade Grantees
Congratulations to two recent facade grantees on completing their projects!
☕ Red Rock Coffee: Red Rock Coffee used facade improvement grant funding for their side awning (facing the Castro St pedestrian corridor). What is bringing in more customers, the great beverages and food or their gorgeous awning? We'd like to think it’s both 🤝
📖 East West Bookshop: East West Bookshop received Facade Improvement Grant funding to spruce up parts of their awning too! We love this style – and also love the much-needed shade.
Interested in the Facade Grant program? Reach out to our team at econ.dev@mountainview.gov for more information!
As a reminder, the grant program still has funding available, but it is going fast. Grants are available for a wide variety of outdoor improvements including signage, architectural improvements, painting and more.
