Community Workshop on Downtown Precise Plan |

The City of Mountain View invites the public to participate in a community workshop tomorrow to kick off the public-input phase of the comprehensive update to the Downtown Precise Plan. This important three-year planning process will update the vision for the Downtown area. The updated plan will guide land use, building design, and streetscape improvements for future decades. The goal is to ensure that the Downtown remains the vibrant heart of Mountain View.
Thursday, Aug. 14 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. (Doors open at 6:15 p.m.) SFV Portuguese Hall, 361 Villa St.
Child care (for children ages 3 and above) and light refreshments will be provided. Interpretation services will also be available in Spanish and Chinese.

Pickleball Study Community Meeting |
|
|
The City of Mountain View will hold a Pickleball Study community meeting later this month. Staff will provide an update on the Pickleball Study, present conceptual designs for three potential locations (Cuesta Park adjacent to the tennis courts, Cuesta Park Annex adjacent to the tennis courts, and the future San Rafael Park site), and gather public input.
Wednesday, Aug. 27 6:30 p.m. Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave.
The meeting will be held in Redwood Hall at the Community Center.
Later this year, staff will present the feasibility study findings, community feedback, and recommendation to the City Council for direction on next steps.

Palo Alto Forms Community Advisory Group for San Antonio Road Area Plan |

The City of Palo Alto recently formed a Community Advisory Group including two Mountain View residents to advise on the San Antonio Road Area Plan, which is currently under development by the City of Palo Alto.
Palo Alto's San Antonio Road Area Plan includes property along the San Antonio Road corridor between Alma Street and Terminal Road, and a roughly half-mile portion of Alma Street west of San Antonio Road. The Plan is intended to establish a vision for the planning area and detail policies and strategies that will address land use, housing, mobility and interconnectivity, urban design and placemaking, community services and facilities, and explore the financial feasibility of the recommendations made.
Mountain View staff is coordinating closely with Palo Alto staff on their preparation of this Plan. The Plan is scheduled to be completed by June of 2028.

Eagle Park Pool Temporary Closure |
|
|
The main pool pump at Eagle Park Pool is failing and requires immediate maintenance to prevent an unplanned closure. To address this issue proactively, scheduled maintenance is currently taking place until Sept. 1. During this time, all youth and community user groups will be temporarily relocated to the Rengstorff Park Aquatics Center. This relocation will require schedule changes for all programs.

Construction Alert for Mountain View Medical Office Building |

|
Kaiser Permanente announced construction activities are underway at the Mountain View Medical Office Building, located at 555 Castro St. The construction began in July and is estimated to last through December 2025.
According to Kaiser Permanente, the construction project includes waterproofing the roof and exterior balconies, new paint to the exterior of the building, and upgrading ADA accessibility at exterior entry points.
Per Kaiser Permanente, the Medical Office Building and Parking Structure will remain open during construction. The contractor has provided modified pedestrian pathways around the construction areas and is conducting traffic controls to ensure staff and visitors can safely enter the facility and parking garage during construction hours. Normal construction hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Kaiser Permanente said the contractor is doing all they can to minimize noise and vibration disturbances and to expect some noise, dust, and vibrations during the construction.

City Receives 35th Consecutive GFOA Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting |

The City of Mountain View has once again been recognized for its commitment to transparency and excellence in Financial Reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.
This marks the 35th consecutive year that the City has received this prestigious honor. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its staff.

Become a Canopy-Certified Community Forester through UC Climate Stewards. Canopy is now offering a bilingual UC Climate Stewards certification course in English and Spanish. The course prepares participants to engage within their communities with integrated nature-based climate solutions, community science about local green spaces, and communication to advance community and ecosystem resilience in the urban forest.
