City Receives "A" Score for Sustainability and Climate Resiliency Efforts a Second Time |
|
|
The City of Mountain View is proud to announce that it is one of only 112 cities and two states and regions across the globe to receive an "A" score for its sustainability efforts and commitment to environmental transparency.
Nearly 1,000 cities, states and regions participated in the program offered by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an international nonprofit that supports thousands of companies, cities, states and regions to measure and manage their risks and opportunities on climate change, water security and deforestation. Of these, 752 received scores, and 15% achieved an A.
This is the second time that the City has achieved the top grade, with the first time being the 2023 A List.

New Pedestrian and Bike Bridge to Stevens Creek Trail |
|
|
Installation of the pedestrian/bike bridge at 750 Moffett Blvd. (Ameswell development) is set to begin at the beginning of June. In 2016, the City Council approved a Planned Community Permit for a new hotel, office building, and parking garage at this site. The development project also included installation of a new pedestrian/bike bridge from the site, over Stevens Creek, connecting to the Stevens Creek Trail. This allows users from the development and the adjoining neighborhood convenient access to the trail. The bridge project’s design phase was very complicated, including obtaining permits from multiple agencies and a limited window when construction can occur within the creek. Construction is expected to be complete by October 2025.
During construction, the trail will be reduced in width at this location from 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on business days to allow the work to be performed. There will also be several days where full trail closure will be necessary and trail users will have a signed detour route between the La Avenida trail entrance and the Moffett Boulevard trail entrance.
These closures are for a week or two at a time, are spread throughout the construction timeline, and are not consecutive periods. Signage will be posted. Notifications have been provided to various stakeholders and will be communicated to the public via email notifications and social media.
The first full closure will be from Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 27. During this first closure, the contractor will clear some of the site of vegetation, trim trees, and set up temporary measures such as fences and temporary pathways.
Check Mountain View Trails for more information including expected dates of full trail closure.
