Firefighters stop the spread of flames before they can reach a nearby business

On Friday, Sept. 13 at 2:14 a.m., a 9-1-1 call was received reporting flames were seen coming from the rear of a shopping center, possibly endangering the structure, in the 400 block of Moffett Boulevard.

City of Mountain View Fire Department units were dispatched at 2:14 a.m. The first engine company arrived on the scene at 2:20 a.m. Mountain View Police Department units arrived first on the scene and used a fire extinguisher to smother the flames until fire crews arrived soon after.

The first engine on the scene reported the flames were contained to a dumpster to the rear of the shopping center. Firefighters extinguished the flames and ensured the fire had not extended to the nearby structure. Fire crews remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes to ensure the extinguishment of the flames and confirm the fire did not extend beyond the dumpster.

The fire was extinguished with no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation, as it was suspicious in nature.
