On Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m., a 9-1-1 call was received reporting flames on the northbound side of California State Route 85, south of the El Camino Real exit.

Units were dispatched at 7:31 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 7:39 p.m. They found a 50’ x 100’ area of vegetation and grass on fire along Route 85. The fire was moving quickly through the Santa Clara Valley Water property towards Stevens Creek and the homes on Robin Way.

Firefighters quickly attacked the fire with a progressive hose-lay, limiting the burn to one acre. The fire did get into the creek. However, firefighters were able to stop the flames before the fire was able to damage any homes or private property. Firefighters prevented any damage from the fire to the residential properties. Firefighters mopped up the scene to ensure full extinguishment of the fire.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
