December 2023 Highlights

The Big Event is Almost Here!

On Monday, Dec. 4, 2023 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. the City will celebrate the winter season with the Community Tree Lighting Celebration in Downtown Mountain View. The celebration will feature local performances, tributes to multicultural and diverse traditions, free refreshments, a train ride, games, crafts, the lighting of the community tree and an appearance from Santa. This event is free and open to the public. Located at the Civic Center Plaza.

Letters to Santa

Santa wants to hear from you! We are inviting all children who are residents of Mountain View to put together their wish lists and send them to Santa! Receiving a letter from Santa is free of cost.

There are two easy ways for Santa to receive letters: drop your child’s letter in Santa’s mailbox located in the Mountain View Community Center lobby (201 South Rengstorff Avenue) between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday or mail your letter to City of Mountain View Recreation Division, c/o Santa Claus, P.O. Box 7540, Mountain View, CA 94039. Don’t forget to include your return address so Santa can respond. Letters will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 8.

Holiday Happenings

Come celebrate the merriest time of the year with holiday themed books, songs, art, and other joyful activities. This class will ignite and enhance children's creativity, social and emotional development.

Santa's Workshop

Join the elves at Santa’s Workshop for a jolly-filled time in building and creating some incredible holiday themed crafts! Children will have the opportunity to design ornaments, customize their own stocking, make a snowy wonderland globe, and so much more!

Teen Holiday Workshop

Make homemade gifts to share with friends and family! Crafts include holiday cards, custom mugs on the Cricut, snowman ornaments, and/or DIY gingerbread house pots. We’ll have wrapping paper and tags for you to pack it up for someone special! Enjoy cookies and cocoa too.

Holiday Closure

The Recreation Division will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25, 2023 through Monday, Jan. 1, 2024 in observance of the winter holiday. Recreation programs will resume Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024. We wish you all a Happy Holiday and are looking forward to a new year of special events, programs and fun in 2024!
