Ocean Plastic - An Art Show sponsored by Surfrider Foundation Marin County
The Ocean Plastic art show, sponsored by Surfrider Foundation Marin County, opened Saturday April 6 at the Bay Model in Sausalito with a well-attended and enthusiastic artist reception. Congratulations to artist Tess Felix, curator of the show, for gathering the art of ten Marin artists to display the perils of pollution of our oceans.
See a giant water bottle composed of many plastic bottles found on local Marin beaches.
The opening reception (on April 6th) included talks by leading environmentalists: Daniella Russo of the Plastic Pollution Coalition, Chris Pincetich of Turtle Island Restoration and David Helvarg, author of The Golden Shore - California's Love Affair with the Sea. Attendees at the opening also helped artist Felicity Crush create a Beach Plastic Mandala made of plastic litter gathered from local beaches.
Be sure to see this show before it leaves. It will be in the lobby of the Bay Model through May 6. Click on the link below to view photos of the art and the artist reception.
