is pleased to announce a new
Community Grant Program:
Grassroots Capacity Building & Partnerships for Change
First 5 Marin Children and Families Commission will be offering grants of up to $25,000 for activities by eligible applicants under two new commission strategies: Grassroots Capacity Building and Partnerships for Change.
DEADLINE
Please submit your Letter of Interest by September 1st-- postmark is acceptable. (see details below)
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Eligible applicants include grassroots community groups, community-based organizations and emerging or existing coalitions. [Please note that groups without a 501(c)(3) tax designation must have a fiscal agent with the designation to receive funding.]
WHAT KINDS OF PROJECTS ARE ELIGIBLE?
The following activities are eligible for funding and must be designed to impact outcomes for children 0 to 5 in Marin County that match First 5 Marin's priorities.
- ADVOCACY
- SUPPORTING ADVOCATES
- LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
- COALITION BUILDING
- SOCIAL MEDIA
- COMMUNITY COLLABORATION
- TRAINING FOR ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING
(please note that these grants are NOT available for playground equipment, typical
classroom materials or other purchases unrelated to the grassroots outreacha and
organizing efforts detailed above.)
FUNDING PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to projects that:
- Are aimed at promoting equity of opportunity for children ages 0 to 5
- Leverage resources and partners, have committed matching funds or can demonstrate
additional support for the project
- Promote long-term opportunities for all children to be healthy and ready for school.

SUBMISSION DATES - two deadlines:
Round One: Letters of Interest will be accepted beginning July 1, 2012 through September 1, 2012. Successful applicants will be asked to submit a full proposal which, if approved, will be funded beginning January 1, 2013.
Round Two: Letters of Interest will be accepted beginning January 1, 2013 through April 1, 2013. Successful applicants will be asked to submit a full proposal which, if approved, will be funded beginning July 1, 2013.
