Civilian Oversight Commission Meeting Preview
The newly formed Civilian Oversight Commission is set to convene for its second meeting on Monday, September 15 at 6:00 pm. The in-person meeting is to take place in Suite 143D at the Marin County Civic Center.
Voting on Appointments
After being called to order, the Commission plans to consider appointing a Chair Pro Tem prior to public comment, followed by consideration of a Chair and Vice Chair. Afterward, the Commissioners will consider approving the minutes from their August meeting.
Setting a Regular Meeting Schedule
Commissioners have reviewed options for establishing a regular meeting time and prefer Monday evenings. At this meeting, the Commissioners will consider a 12-month draft calendar to set their meeting schedule for the year.
Inspector General Recruitment Update
The newly appointed Ad Hoc Hiring Subcommittee met with County Human Resources staff about the recruitment process for the new position of Inspector General and plans to report back to the Commission. The Inspector General will lead the new Office of the Inspector General and provide staff support to the Commission. Hiring is expected to take four to five months.
Workplan Development
Commissioners will discuss the development of a Workplan to provide a clear framework for how the Commission will approach its responsibilities, prioritize key tasks, and organize its efforts. Some key components may include outlining what the Commission aims to accomplish in the first year and developing a timeline with key milestones and major deliverables. In the Workplan, Commissioners may determine if they would like to form ad hoc subcommittees or work as a whole Commission and focus on one or two main topics at a time.

Votación sobre Nombramientos Después del comienzo de la sesión, la Comisión considerará el nombramiento de un Presidente Pro Tempore antes de los comentarios públicos, seguida de la consideración de un Presidente y un Vicepresidente. Luego, los comisarios evaluarán la aprobación de las actas de su reunión de agosto.
Establecimiento de un Horario Regular de Reuniones Los comisarios han revisado opciones para establecer un horario regular de reuniones y prefieren lunes por la noche. En esta reunión, los comisarios considerarán establecer su horario de reuniones para el año usando un calendario preliminar.
Noticias sobre el Reclutamiento del Inspector General El recientemente nombrado Subcomité Ad Hoc de Reclutamiento se reunió con funcionarios del Departamento de Recursos Humanos del Condado de Marin sobre el nuevo puesto de Inspector General y informará a la Comisión sobre lo que pasó. Las metas que la Comisión quiere lograr en el primer año y el desarrollo de un cronograma con hitos importantes y entregables principals son algunos componentes importantes del plan. En el plan de trabajo, los comisarios podrían determinar si desean formar subcomités ad hoc o trabajar como una Comisión, enfocando en uno o dos temas principales a la vez.
