Memorial for Supervisor Hal Brown

Supervisor Kate Sears extends this invitation to the public memorial for our colleague Hal Brown:

Memorial for

Supervisor Hal Brown

On Friday, March 2nd, Marin County lost a local legend when retired Marin County Supervisor, Harold “Hal” Brown, died at home in Sleepy Hollow after a long battle with cancer. He was the longest serving County Supervisor in Marin’s history, having served on the Board since 1983. Supervisor Brown retired in October 2011. His passing is a great loss to the County, his district and his friends and ‘family’ here at the Civic Center.

He was a champion of open space, a supporter of fire safety, and instrumental in spearheading major policies and initiatives to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all Marin County community members. He was the longest serving member of the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation and the Bay Area Air Quality Management Districts and was a tireless supporter of the non-profit community.

A public ceremony honoring his life and achievements will be held:

Saturday, March 24, 2012
Marin Center Veterans' Memorial Auditorium
10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael, CA

The event is open to the public. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 11:00 a.m. Parking will be available outside the Marin Center and along Civic Center Drive.

In lieu of flowers, Brown’s family has asked that donations be made to:

The Marin Valentine’s Ball Foundation
PO Box 1612
San Anselmo, CA 94979
